Today, at long last, I finished crocheting all of the mutli-color motifs needed for my 2012 North Carolina State Fair project. It was the day I hoped for but did not expect, and when I crocheted the last stitch I realized that there were none left to crochet.
The day started as it usually does — too early for my taste. But once I had gotten my son off to school, eaten breakfast, and walked my dog:
I was able to resume work on the ten motifs that have commanded my attention since Sunday, and at some point in the early afternoon I finally finished all of the crochet work on the last ten multi-color motifs:
Although some of the motifs still had ends that needed weaving in, my curiousity was piqued: what would the finished project look like?
Unable to restrain myself any longer, I laid out all of the non-border pieces to get a general sense of how it will look.
Here is one view:
and here is another:
There were times I thought this day would never come, that the entry deadline for the state fair would near, and I would have to alter my original vision of the project to accommodate the constraints of time, but as of today, no alteration is necessary.
Now all that’s left is the assembly.
