Gray Tuesday

Some days, you work on a project, and no matter what you do, it all comes together in a sort of psychically seamless fashion.

And while, overall, I had an excellent day, it was not, from a crochet perspective, terribly productive.

The day got off to a good start, and all indications were that I would get a lot done. I got my son off to school, walked the dog, and after running errands that took a couple of hours, I made it home before one of the day’s deluges of rain poured down.

I washed four more completed multi-color motifs, and then for what remained of the day, I seemed to be moving in slow motion.

Eventually, I finished this motif:

One more multicolor crochet motif

Then, there was the Band Club meeting.

With the motif done, I had to set aside my crochet to get dinner ready so I could get my son to school for a band rehearsal for a performance midway through the aforementioned meeting, and of course, I had to go to the meeting — well, at least the first half.

I had, however, gotten a start on a second piece that is destined for the border, and once I had double checked the number of stitches in the foundation chain, I was able to make some progress during what remained of the meeting:

I start work on another crochet border piece

While I did not, to my mind, get a lot of crochet done today, all of the work I have gotten done on those days that felt were less than optimally productive do add up, and if I had not finished this motif and begun work on the border, that would work I still needed to do.

I am hoping that tomorrow is wildly productive, but I know that what matters most at this point is that I continue moving forward (no matter how small the step), and at some point, the project will reach its tipping point and all the pieces will (somehow) fit together.
