In which I have a Thorsday crochet guest

A little over a year go now when my mother and I left North Carolina to come to New Mexico to meet my first cousin twice removed and his family, we didn’t really know where it would lead, but today it lead to a new crochet guest by the name of Thor.

Thor, as it happens is that very same cousin’s Chihuahua puppy, and as my cousin had some business he needed to take care of, I was delighted when he asked me if I could watch his pup.

It’s appropriate that Thor should make his first visit on a Thursday, the day named for the mythological god of thunder, rain, and farming, but with the day’s clear skies, it is also a touch ironic, but once he had settled in, he seemed to enjoy the day’s good weather:

When Thor first arrived, it was shaping up to be a little more interesting than an average Thursday.

Thor did not know what to make of me after his daddy left, and my dog, Clooney, did not know what to make of Thor. It took some time for Thor to get used to the situation in which he found himself, but after a nice nap in his crate with Clooney keeping watch over him while I crocheted, Thor was finally ready to enjoy the great outdoors of the side patio while I photographed my progress on the Flamboyant Afghan.

Yesterday, despite having to run errands, I did get some crochet time in and overcame my color indecision long enough to finish six granny squares:

And I used my time today to get a start and on six more granny squares:

There is a lot to be done in the eleven days between now and August 19, and while Thor gets in his mid-afternoon puppy nap:

I will continue moving forward, one stitch and one granny square at a time.

  1. Thor is adorable. (Does he need a crocheted puppy sweater?) I just want to say I always love watching your projects progress, and I love your color choices.
