Today, as part of my effort to finally get my crochet life organized, I drove to Fayetteville to meet a dear friend for lunch.

She had kindly agreed to rehome some of my oversized yarn stash, and after some juggling of schedules we were finally able to find a day when we could meet.

Today was that day.

So with the back of my car filled with two bags of yarn, I finished my morning errands and then headed south to Fayetteville.

When I used Google Maps to select a route, I was given three choices. The quickest route was also the longest, but I had enough time to take one of the shorter, more leisurely routes, so I did.

As I reached the outskirts of Raleigh, the vistas got slightly wider and the traffic was less. As I neared Fayetteville, the reverse occurred, and in short order, I had reached my destination.

In a few minutes my friend had also arrived, and after transferring the yarn from my car to hers, we took some time to discuss yarn, crochet, and life, and eat lunch.

Before I knew it, an hour and-a-half had passed. We each had other obligations to meet, so after good-byes were said, we each headed off to the next thing on our respective lists.

Next on my list was to get home and resume my crochet square rehab for Project Amigo.

Yesterday, when I went to my mail box I found an envelope with my name on it. It was not the usual sort of mail I get with promises of lower car insurance or an assortment of coupons for things I never do. Instead, it was a lovely thank you letter for the five and six-inch crochet squares I had rehabbed to purposefulness for Project Amigo.

Along with the lovely thank you was a brochure for Project Amigo, and as I read over the goals of the project, I was once again moved to make more squares, and in gathering up the yarn to give to my crochet friend, I had come across even more that could be used.

Two of the first squares I rehabbed were two, two-round variegated granny squares that had originally been earmarked for a crochet purse. I had made some progress with them the previous day, but had not gotten them done:

So with the renewed crochet mojo one gets from visiting friends who crochet, I got to work, and before long I had two squares done:

and had identified three more random squares for crochet rehab:

and before the sun set on yet another not-quite-long-enough day, I had three more crochet square rehabbed for a total of five:

One of the reasons I am so drawn to this project is that it is incredibly purposeful, and these random crochet bits of my crochet life are being made into something larger and than they could ever be on their own.
