Theater crochet

Each day, I get a little closer to my goal of one thousand crochet squares for Project Amigo. Stitch by stitch, I move forward, but life, like crochet, does not stand still and today was no exception. On my calendar of “things to do today” was the following item: attend a performance of “Singin’ in the Rain” at the Albuquerque Little Theater.

I love musical theater, but when I am in the middle of a big project (or as I am in this instance — nearing the end), I like to make use of every bit of time I have, and so in the interest of putting all of my time to it’s highest and best use, I decided that it would be a good idea to pack up some squares to work on both before the performance began and during intermission.

I looked over the available options:

After giving it some thought, I selected nine squares in mid-rehab to take to the theater:

I didn’t really know if I would be able to finish all nine squares while I was out, but I prefer to err on the side of taking too much work with me rather than not enough.

One missed turn and ten minutes later, we had reached our destination. Sandwiched in between Old Town and Downtown Albuquerque, it is a theater with a lot of history, and, as it turns out, ample and easy parking, so despite the wrong turn it was easy to get to our seats on time which gave me a moment or two to do a little work before the production began.

During the fifteen minute intermission, I continued my work, and while I didn’t get everything done while I was out, with the increasingly longer days, once we got home, I still had time to put the finishing touches on the nine squares, so I did:

I will be very glad when I have these fifty-five crochet remnants rehabbed, and I will continue my forward progress one stitch at a time.
