When the going gets tough, the tough get cheesecake

When I am dreaming up a project, I am unable to anticipate the bumps between inception and completion. No doubt this is due to the fact that I often envision the project in its completed form, and that does nothing to tell me what steps will need to be taken in order to bring that vision to fruition.

Such is the case with my granny square Fibonacci project.

In my mind’s eye, I can see what it will look like when it is done, but for right now, it looks like this:

My not entirely successful experiment using granny squares to create a Fibonacci sequence

Clearly there is some work to be done, and while this current variation does not please me, I know that I will get the kinks/bumps/uneven edges worked out — eventually.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to step back, take a breath (metaphorically speaking), and crochet something familiar that will allow me to think my way through my current Fibonacci conundrum.

To assist me in moving forward, I decided to crochet yet another version of the Purl Bee crochet stash basket using this pattern and the bag featured in the photo below as a guide to colors:

I then sorted through my stash of acrylic yarns and found these yarns:

I ransack my yarn stash to find colors like those of the Cheesecake Factory

While not exact matches, the colors are close enough to evoke the joy that is a Cheesecake Factory bag, which in turn evokes the joy that is cheesecake.

Once I had a pile of yarn to work with, I got to work, and before dinner tonight, I had gotten this far:

Hopefully the time spent working on this new stash bag will clear my head and allow me to devise a more elegant solution for the Fibonacci project.

Until then, cheesecake anyone?
