Square C-2 and Square A-2 of the Granny Square Sampler

With the weekend behind me and a late afternoon trumpet lesson as the day’s only errand, I had the luxury of spending most of my day working on my assorted projects.

I spent the early part of the morning experimenting with and stewing over how to join the 169 cookies that will comprise the cookieghan; after narrowing the choices to two options (at least for now), I set the cookies aside and got to work on the Better Homes and Gardens Granny Square Sampler Afghan.

When I last worked on the project, I had begun working on squares that surround the central panel, and I had gotten this far with Square C-2:

I started work by turning the square 45ยบ and adding the four corners:

and then prepared to join it to the rest of the afghan:

which I did, but then I forget to get a photo of it, and didn’t notice the oversight until the sun was dipping on the horizon, at which time I managed to get this photo, however imperfect:

With Square C-2 relegated to crochet history, I moved forward to Square A-2. Comprised of four 3-round granny squares, the largest challenge this square presents is finding 13 colors that work together to create a visually cohesive unit.

This is how far I got before it was time to head out for my son’s trumpet lesson:

When I started work on this project in early April, the May wedding seemed much farther away than it does now. When I wake up tomorrow morning, there will be just 25 days between me and the nuptials for which this gift is intended. I guess I had better get busy.
