So the granny square blanket is done-ish!

I had hoped to have my current front burner crochet project ready to mail today, but there have been small undercurrents pulling me away, and I have had to fight them off, and today the blanket is finally done-ish.

By done-ish, I mean that all of the crochet is done. All the ends are woven in. And trimmed. And I got it blocked. And I rolled it between towels. And set it in the sun to dry:

But it isn’t dry, and there are a few “minor adjustments” to be made before it is ready to be shipped to its permanent home in California, but I suppose the events that are of greater interest are the ones that come before this moment.

Yesterday, I crocheted whenever circumstances and time permitted. By the time I headed out to take my dog out for his late afternoon early evening walk, I had gotten this far:

I had thought that I would do more work on it after we returned from the walk, but I needed to make dinner, and that precipitated a number of things that also needed to be done. And it was Wednesday, so we had to get the trash and recycle out to the curb. Before I knew it, Wednesday was gone.

So when I got up this morning, it was with an added dash of determination. I. was. going. to. finish. this. blanket.

And I did.

Sort of.

When I sat down with the day’s first cup of coffee, here is how it looked

My dog was still dozing, not yet agitating for anything, and I left me to my coffee and crochet until I had gotten this far:

Then the walk could not wait. Not ten minutes, not five minutes; in fact, it could not even wait one minute. It was time for me to get my shoes on and go.

So we did.

And when we returned, I thought that after a quick breakfast, I could have the blanket done and blocked by noon, that it would have several hours in the sun to dry and crisp up, but instead, my pace slowed.

I wanted the blanket to be perfect, and I know that there is nothing like hurrying at the last minute to make things take even longer. So I counted and recounted, and eventually, I finished the last stitch:

It is now mostly done, and all I have to do, is wait for it to dry.
