It can be hard to know when you are done with something, particularly if you have a specific goal in mind. You might find — somewhere along the way — that you should have had a different goal all along, and that is exactly where I found myself with one of the fifty-five crochet remnants I am rehabbing.
I had thought the remnant could (and should) be transformed into a five-inch square, but the remnant in question had another idea, and while it can be tempting to continue forward to meet your original goal, sometimes you need to know when to stop.
Today I came so close to having fifty-five rehabbed crochet remnants done, but after I completed what would have been an intermediate round of rehab, it became clear that the remnant in question was perfect as it was, and so I left it:

So instead of fifty-five newly rehabbed squares for Project Amigo, I have fifty-four. Here they are in their almost completed glory:

Then, I finished weaving in and trimming the ends and took this photo which is an overview of the fifty five-inch squares:

along with this detail:

With fifty-four rehabbed squares ready for adventure, that left me in need of more remnants to rehab, and after going through four bins in the garage, I was able to track down a fresh baker’s dozen in need of rehab:

It was both thrilling and a touch nerve-wracking to have to go through so many bins to find the next pieces for rehab, but I am so close to my goal of making a thousand squares (as well as using more than a thousand fewer remnants), that I intend to persist, one stitch at a time.
