Getting a little unstuck

This past weekend I finally managed to get myself a little unstuck on the fifty-five crochet remnants I am rehabbing.

By choosing to work with so many crochet remnants at one time instead of working on them in five groups of nine and one group of ten, I have created a lot of work for myself, and it is the sort of work that results in nothing to show for your efforts, but this weekend, I somehow managed to launch myself out of the crochet bog in which I found myself.

I very much felt the weight of getting very little done, but Friday, I found an hour where I was able to just sit and crochet. I wasn’t super productive. A stitch here, another stitch there, and then it was time to do other things.

But when Saturday came, and I found myself with some time to crochet, the work I had done the previous day proved to be a good enough foundation on which to build, and today, when I picked up where I had left off and continued to plow forward, I finally had some traction on my work, and the remnants began to take the shape of the squares they will become.

My handsdown favorite was this little beauty:

A super cute remnant mid-rehab
A super cute remnant mid-rehab

Built on the foundation of a remnant from a project I call “Flight of Fancy,” it has a very whimsical air to it that made it a lot of fun to crochet despite the fact that it is a bit fussy.

I also was delighted to finish work on three more of the fifty-five crochet remnants resulting in these fiveinch squares:

Three rehabbed five-inch crochet squares
Three rehabbed five-inch crochet squares

The more in “medias res” efforts included these five squares:

Four future five-inch crochet squares
Four future five-inch crochet squares

these six former crochet circles:

Six crochet remnants in mid-rehab
Six crochet remnants in mid-rehab

and these eleven squares to be:

Eleven crochet remnants on the way to being five-inch squares
Eleven crochet remnants on the way to being five-inch squares

I suppose it would be nice if we never got stuck. but maybe these quiet moments where we are stuck where we are, offer us insights into how we can best move forward, one stitch at a time.
