Eight more crochet squares rehabbed on the way to one thousand

I am not sure how many crochet squares I have made in total on my journey to one thousand rehabbed crochet squares, but this weekend, I managed to get eight squares closer to my goal.

With “a new kind of baby blanket” now in the rear view mirror of my crochet life, I got out my hook and searched my prodigious stash of crochet remnants and found this:

a crochet square with a lavender crochet circle at the center

Leftover from my 2006 North Carolina State Fair effort, it was almost the right size.

Almost.

The problem with “almost” is that it is not the right size, and in this instance the distance between “almost” and “just right” was not any crochet stitch known to me.

Anything I could think to add would make the square too large, so I frogged the last round of double crochet stitches and reworked it with half double crochet stitches:

Which put the square, one round of single crochet stitches shy of perfect, so I worked the round of single crochet to match the center and forgot to take a photo of it before I moved on to this rosette:

I had squared it off earlier with a round of dark brown, but I had been unable to finish it because I had not been able to find the right shade of pink. But this weekend I unearthed what remained of a skein of “perfect pink,” and was able to finish it:

Which brought me to one of my more challenging remnants — a two-round boho crochet heart. Somehow I had not completed the third round, but after my success rehabbing the three-round boho crochet hearts:

I thought that I was up to the challenge.

After a few missteps, I had the first round of squaring off done:

and from there it went quickly and easily:

So quickly and easily, that I even had time to get this group photo of the newly rehabbed squares:

and make a video of how I crocheted the first four rounds of the crochet circle at the center of “a new kind of baby blanket”

Tomorrow is a new day, and I can hardly wait to see what crochet adventures await.
