A boho crochet weekend

While the days are getting longer — sunrise coming a bit earlier each day and sunset a bit later — they still aren’t long enough for me to fit in everything I want to do; but within the limits that are set, I did manage to make substantive, if not substantial, progress this weekend.

Yesterday, I spent a lot of time working on the circles that form the center of the motif for the boho crochet purse I am working on. I had a vague color plan in mind; I was trying to make sure that no color was shortchanged and that they were playing well together, so when I got up this morning, this was the sight that greeted me:

Where I was with the future boho granny squares this morning

A not terribly organized cache of crochet circles with what looked like a bazillion ends to weave en, so even though I wanted to work on the crochet remnants I am rehabbing, I decided to weave in the ends while I was inclined to do so.

With a collection of Clover and Hiya Hiya bent-tipped yarn needles at my side, I got to work and learned once again, that it’s amazing what you can do with a bent-tipped yarn needle and a couple of hours:

With the progress on the future boho granny squares finally visible to me in a way that couldn’t be denied, I was ready to get back to my front burner crochet remnant rehab.

While attempting to finish one square, I discovered that I had made an error that was not the sort of thing I could just “work past” so I frogged the yarn to the point of the error, and then worked my way back where I had been, and then went onto finish it.

The next remnant I picked up was also in need of frogging. It had ruffled edges that I could not make lie flat, so I pulled out the round of that was causing the problem and then recrocheted it, but this time without the ruffing.

And so it went, but I did not manage to finish all of the squares before sunset, but I came close:

And because I had thought that I would finish them, I had already picked nine more crochet remnants from my crochet remnant stash for the next round of crochet rehab:

The next nine crochet remnants to be rehabbed

I am going to enjoy each and every minute of the longer days as we make the inexorable march toward late June, and between now and then, I will fit as many stitches into each day as I possibly can.
