I resume my crochet journey

As a life winds down, time seems to slow to a crawl. Activities that once were done quickly and efficiently without much thought expand to fill moments that are long and endless and often fraught — as if we are lingering with our loved one over the time that remains.

In the wake of my cousin David’s death, it seems that the passage of time has once again resumed its (for me) frenetic pace, but despite the busy-ness of it, I have been able to resume my crochet journey.

The day after my cousin’s passing (a day that was marked with a brief ice storm), all of the ice from the previous day had melted away, and it was once again safe to traverse walkways and streets.

In my first sojourn out of the house, I stopped to look for some yarn.

I had a project in mind, and I was looking for some additionalcolors.

Which colors?

I didn’t know, but I knew I would know them when I saw them. As it turned out, among others, I was looking for guava and bright orchid:

I was particularly taken with the bright orchid and as soon as I got home, I got out my 4.5 mm hook and began crocheting a skein of bright orchid into the boho heart centers it wanted to be:

Satisfied that the bright orchid was the perfect color, I then searched my stash for more perfect colors, and so far I have amassed this rainbow of boho heart centers:

I have a general idea of where I am going with this, but like so many things in life, the most important part is the journey itself.
