Dangerous scrap-yarn hat pattern ahead

After I made my first scrap-yarn scrap-buster’s hat using Jenna Wingate’s free pattern, I was definitely hooked.

While chatting with another crochet friend, I had warned her that I was about to share with her a dangerous scrap-yarn crochet hat pattern that had so captured my imagination so thoroughly  that I thought I could make one every day.

While I am not quite up to the speed of one-hat-a-day, today I did get the ends woven-in ends on my most recent scrap/stash busting effort and added the strands for braiding:

After a couple of less than satisfactory results, I got the strands braided and ready for adventure:

With the hat done and some scrap yarn repurposed to a higher use, I then embarked on the first of what will be five additional hats, and finished the base of the first hat:

I am hoping that I catch my crochet wind and am able to achieve (at least for five days) a rate of a hat a day, but until then, I will work toward that goal, one stitch at a time.
