Maybe you have seen this photo:

One of my friends from high school who knows that I’m just a bit bent about crochet posted it on my Facebook wall yesterday. Later that afternoon, I saw the same photo posted on the Red Heart Yarns Facebook wall as well.

There, in addition to some comments about how cute it was, someone had asked about where to find the pattern; someone else suggested terms to use in a search, and soon after the person who had made the initial inquiry posted a message that she had found it.

Using the search terms suggested, I went to my search engine of choice, entered the terms and got 93,300 results. I didn’t have time to go through all of them, but two in particular caught my attention.

One was myHQ: Crochet Poet’s Pattern Collection. The site is:

dedicated to all crocheters who have experienced that desperate search for a link you ran across, didn’t bookmark and then couldn’t find when you wanted it.

The other site that got my attention was this: Crochet Pattern Central

Like Crochet Poet’s Pattern Collection, Crochet Pattern Central has a library of patterns to keep you busy for several lifetimes. Despite what seemed to be two exhaustive collections of crochet patterns, I found myself in a situation not unlike that of the Ancient Mariner in Samuel Coleridge’s poem when the mariner laments:

Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink.

With the amazing number of patterns I had discovered, I still had not come across the pattern I was searching for; so I went back to the Red Heart Yarns Facebook page and sent a message to the woman who had found the pattern asking her for the link.

Lucky for me, I caught her while she was available, and in minutes she had gotten back to me with this link to Elisabeth Spivey’s Etsy shop where the pattern is available for purchase.

I don’t know when I will have time to make this or for whom I would make it, but somewhere there is a baby about to be born, and he or she would look just perfect in this outfit, and I hope the crocheter who knows this baby takes the time to purchase this pattern and make it.
