Four days to the 2015 North Carolina State Fair deadline

Over the next four days I need to bring together the disparate pieces I have crocheted for this year’s state fair piece — goblets and squares and hearts and diamond and spades and clubs — and assemble them into a coherent whole.

Among the things I worked on today were the corners.

I had several ideas I had left to try that I hoped would try capture the emboidered elements of a card table tablecloth that my grandmother had decorated. Here are the four corners before I attempted working out my ideas:

Four future crochet corners for a crochet afghan

And here is the one corner I completed after all my initial ideas had failed:

I finally figure out how to decorate the surface

With the method for that figure out, I moved onto the final round of the corners while I still had daylight left:

The final decorative element of the crochet corners with just four days to go

Every project I have ever completed has taught me things I didn’t know I needed to learn, and I have no doubt that there are several more lessons for me to learn between now and noon on Monday.
