Last year, I made my first ever solo yarn bomb for Day of the Dead. I managed to get what I thought of as the base of the yarn bomb crocheted just in time for the holiday, but I did not have enough time to crochet all of the bells and whistles I had hoped to get done. So this year, I decided to get a start on Day of the Dead 2019 while I ruminate about the particulars of my future boho crochet purse.

Here is how the yarn bomb looked on its Day of the Dead debut:

It’s a good start, but a little on the plain side. Recently, however, a crochet peep of mine shared a “how to crochet a daisy video” with, me and after watching it, I was intrigued.

I went into the garage and found the bin with my yarn bomb and laid it out:

Then, I started in making the flower. Very quickly, I could see that it was going to be too small for my yarn bomb so I frogged everything and started over.

Fortunately for me and crocheters the world over, it is pretty easy to adapt a pattern to your personal needs, and with a change here, and a change there, I managed to make the very large — and that this point, very curly — daisy:

And while it looks a overly large all on its own, it looks just right on the sugar skull yarn bomb:

I have more flowers I want to crochet for this project, but I’m also happy to add to it each year, moving forward, one crochet flower (or two, or three, or four, or five) at a time.
