Today I continued work on a crochet monster that has gotten my attention, and I resumed work on what is supposed to be my 2019 New Mexico State Fair entry. While the two projects are different, they do have two things in common. One, they are both made from yarn scraps, and two, they both have seemingly endless ends that need to be woven in and trimmed before I can move forward.

Here is how the assortment of seventeen future granny squares that are in various state of completion looked this morning:

They were a bit unruly and disorganized.

And here is how the crochet monster I am working on appeared:

Both projects clearly needed a bent tipped yarn needle and a couple of hours of my undivided attention.

I had bent-tipped yarn needles to spare, but my undivided attention, it turned out, was harder to come by.

As a result of having been out-of-town for a week-and-a-half, there were a number of things that had been delayed until my return, and a couple of extra things that had popped up without notice.

But despite the many things that needed to be done today, I had the wind at my back as I wove in the seeming endless ends, and by late afternoon, I not only had all of the Flamboyant Afghan squares prettied up and ready for another round or two (or three or four or five) of work:

Like the monster and the seventeen crochet squares waiting to be finished, I too am ready for what’s next, and I will get there, one stitch at a time.
