A moment in time

After yesterday’s early morning snafu in which I apparently slept through the alarm meant to wake me so that I could get my son to the bus stop at 6:30, it is probably no surprise that I had a series of dreams last night and that in each one, my son missed the bus. To add insult to injury, not only did he miss the bus, but we did not waken until 7:21 am, three minutes after the tardy bell.

Despite this series of relentless dreams, I did hear the alarm this morning, I did get up at the appointed hour, breakfast was made and eaten, lunch money was found, and we got to the bus stop with enough time to take a moment to look at Orion while we waited.

With my son off to school, I was able to return to the house and resume work on my 2011 North Carolina State Fair project.

The weather was a bit cool for sitting in the morning shade of my outdoor office, so I gathered my things together and worked in a room downstairs where the light is good, but, unfortunately for me, the cat likes to roam.

Still, just as a cat’s got to do what a cat’s got to do (which is shed wherever it is least convenient and most bothersome), a crocheter has to do what a crocheter has to do, so from breakfast until it was time to take my son to a trumpet lesson, I made rectangles, pieced them together into squares, and attempted to lay them out in an arrangement I found pleasing.

Shortly before we left for the trumpet lesson, I took this photo:

Clearly, I have a lot of work to do between now and Monday, but with the week’s trumpet lesson done, most of the laundry out of the way, my fingers crossed, and so many people wishing me well, I am confident I will get it done.
