This was view from my front porch right around 5 o’clock this afternoon:

which was not altogether unlike the view from the same porch at about same time of day, one week earlier:

If you were to judge this past week by the view from my front porch, it looks as if not much has changed, when in fact a lot of things have, not the least of which is my Josef Albers potholder project.
I began this effort on December 17, thinking that one more project was exactly what I needed before Christmas. I got this far with it:

On reflection, however, and with measuring tape in hand, I consulted some notes and made measurements of my Frank Stella potholders:

and came to the conclusion that if I were to felt the above potholder-in-waiting, I would end up with a lovely felted square that wasn’t quite big enough to do the job.
I was also concerned that the finished felted potholder would be a bit thick and not as supple as I would like, so, using information gleaned from the Merri Purdy’s use of a single crochet through the back loop only worked in the round for her felted make-up bag that I finished this week, I decided to rework the potholder.
While it took me about an hour-and-a-half to work out details of the design, I finally came up with something I think will work:

Now, for the week in review!
