One thing about living in a pandemic time is that I am no longer in a hurry. I truly have almost nowhere I need to go. As a result, most of my life is confined to the things I need to do, and the things I want to do, and one of the things I want to do is create small oases throughout my house, and my new bookcase is now my first completed oasis.
The rug I crocheted, is like the bookcase it coordinates with, made from repurposed materials, and I continued in that vein using the same yarn to make two crochet furniture casters.
Readers may remember that when the piece first arrived, I did not have any casters made, so I used what I had:

But what I had did not contribute to the effect I wanted, so the past couple of days I have been busy crocheting granny squares that could then be felted and used as furniture casters.
At the time of my last blog post, I had gotten as far as the first round for all of fourteen squares I would need. Yesterday I spent all of my crochet time working on the second round for each of those squares and by mid-afternoon, they were crocheted and ready to be assembled:

After dinner, I got out one of my beloved bent-tipped yarn needles and set work, weaving in ends, joining seams, and weaving in more ends.
This morning, I was so focused on getting the future furniture casters felted, I forgot to document my progress until after they had already been through one round of felting:

While the overall effect was charming, the casters were too large to properly fit the bookcase, so, throwing all caution to the wind, I put both of them in for a second round of felting.
Lucky for me, the second round made them exactly the right size for my new bookcase. And after an afternoon basking in the sun:

I had the oasis that I (and my cat, as it turns out) wanted:

There are still many pockets of my house that would benefit from a little crochet love, and I will continue forward, one stitch, and one oasis, at a time.
