In what little remains of 2013, I am doing what I can to wrap up the loose ends of the year that is about to end before embarking on the adventures of a new year, and while I have a veritable treasure trove of unfinished projects from which to choose, my focus the last couple of days has been a pair of Victorian texting gloves that I have been working on, and I am happy to say that now they are all done but the drying.

Made using Catherine DePasquale’s free pattern, a 3.5 mm hook, and a vintage gold acrylic yarn that is at least forty years old, I crocheted these two fingerless gloves:

Using my much beloved Clover bent-tipped yarn needle, I wove in the ends:

Not certain all of the places the yarn had traveled in the intervening decades since it was first manufactured,I decided that a good soapy soak to wash off any vintage dirt was in order.

After a good soak, a thorough rinse, and rolling out the excess moisture, the fingerless texting gloves were almost ready to wear:

At some point tomorrow the gloves will have dried, and I will be able to get them to their intended recipient.

In the meantime, however, I will sort through the many undone projects that remain and find the one most in need of finishing.
