In the last installment of my blog, I had managed to rehab ten crochet remnants into five-inch crochet squares over the course of the weekend. I had, however, failed to complete the rehab of two one-round granny squares because the remnants of yarn I was using were not long enough to finish the second round of either square. All of the changed when I came across this cache of crochet circles:
I had been looking for some Red Heart Super Saver hunter green and burgundy, and while I eventually found the hunter green I was looking for (which allowed me to complete the second round of one granny square):
I have yet to find the burgundy that I know is somewhere, but instead of getting too sidetracked, I finished work on the one square:
and decided to square off the cache of crochet circles I had found while looking for yarn.
The way I had laid out the circles reminded me of the game Twister, and I initially considered squaring them off with Red Heart Super Saver soft white or Aran, but I decided that that was just too much neutral for my taste, and instead, I settled on what I think of as a “new” neutral, CraftSmart Value yarn’s understated Fuchsia:
It’s one of those colors that — to my mind — goes well every color of the rainbow, and I decided to test my color theory with the array of crochet circles I had found.
It took awhile, but eventually, I had all twelve crochet circles squared off, and I was pretty pleased with the result:
But since the road to a thousand rehabbed crochet squares is a long one, I decided that rather than rest on my laurels, I would get busy and rehab this square that I had found in the same box as the circles:
Measuring 4.75″ across, it was almost the prefect size.
Almost, but not quite.
So with a 4.5 mm hook and some Red Heart Super Saver cherry, I completed a border of slip stitches though the back look only while working (2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc) into each corner.

By now, I was starting to run out of day, so I added the new crochet squares to nook in the wall, and got this photo:
When I count the squares squares I previously sent along with the six-inch squares that don’t fit in the nook, I have now passed the 25% mark on my march toward one thousand crochet squares with a total of 256. I know that there is a lot of work to be done before I reach my goal, but the cache of crochet circles I unearthed has certainly helped propel me forward, one stitch at a time.
