I like to think of the new year as an opportunity to start fresh, but the beginning of 2020 has been an opportunity to up my finishing game by wrapping up a lot of loose ends.

The first two “loose ends” projects I worked on (and finished) are two crochet newsboys hats made using Eileen Tepper’s pattern and reclaimed Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride bulky weight yarn.

I originally purchased it with the idea that I would make a crochet rug, but I was never able to take the yarn and turn it into my vision of a rug, so I ultimately ended up frogging the yarn multiple times, and now two of the colors–a purplish pink and a duskier purple–have been both reclaimed and transformed, and are now crochet hats:

Due to the fact that I was using yarn I had reclaimed, there were a lot of ends to be woven in, but eventually, that task was done, but by then I was also tired of weaving in the myriad ends, so rather than weave ends in, I created more, but working on one of my scrap yarn granny squares.

I would like to get these done so that I have less animal fur getting directly onto my furniture, so today, I got out the largest of the three scrap yarn granny squares I am working on:

Using my 4.0 mm hook, a crochet tension regulator, and any yellow yarn scraps that were within reach, I got to work, and an hour later, I had something to show for efforts:

Obviously, this scrap yarn project is going to require that I weave in quite a few loose ends before I can all it “ta-done,” but I will move forward, one stitch (and one loose end) at a time.
