It’s been a week since my mother last went to physical therapy, so I was back at my dog sitting venture today, crochet hook in hand while my mother made what is now her weekly trek.

Having finally finished the eighth medium textured square last night, I turned my efforts today to the sixty-four additional small textured squares I will need to complete the textured squares afghan as I have envisioned it, and I got a good start toward that goal today:

And with just four days and one trumpet lesson between me and the new year, I also got a jumpstart on one of the resolutions I will no doubt be making: To get caught up on my 101 Crochet Squares crochet along.

I don’t even know how many weeks behind I am now, so I went to a master list compiled by the moderator that encompasses the first 27 weeks of the crochet-along and worked my way down the list until I found one that I had not done and would work well with the color scheme I had in mind.

Buoyed by the success of the all pink color scheme I worked with on Christmas day:

I had it in my head that I wanted to work a square with Red Heart Super Saver baby pink and petal pink. Of the squares I had yet to complete, I identified Square 80 from Jean Leinhauser’s 101 Crochet Squares, as an excellent candidate for the colors I wanted to crochet with.

Using a 4.5 mm hook and the petal pink yarn, I crocheted the first four rounds:

On the fifth round, I switched to the baby pink, and felt that the change, while subtle, was flattering to the overall design:

For all of the errands that I had to get done today, I got an awful lot of crochet done. My hope is that the crochet mojo that saw me through today is with me again tomorrow and follows me right into the new year.
