Today brought continued clouds, continued humidity, and continued waiting.
In what has becoming a seemingly instantaneous world, waiting feels unfamiliar.
It goes slowly, and that in itself has come to feel wrong and unnatural.
Air conditioning and artificial light have given many of us a climate controlled world where we do not have to wait for cooler weather, warmer weather, or daylight. We even have water, both hot and cold, available at a moment’s notice
But today was the same as yesterday, with me still waiting for Beryl.
Beryl is the second named storm of the 2012 hurricane season, a season which, technically, has not yet begun.
Both yesterday’s and today’s weather reports suggested that what remains of the storm would have arrived by now, but other than some sporadic late afternoon showers which were just enough to moisten the leaves of the newly planted basil in my yard, there was very little rain to speak of.
But while I waited, I passed the time by continuing to work on the sari silk old-fashioned throw rug.
I finished one round:

then another:

followed by still another:

and then the last round of the day:

Here is how it looks up close:

With most of the weekend spent on this one project, I am developing a kind of groove, and I am starting to wonder just how far I will be able to get with this purchase of sari strips. Will I run out of the sari strips before the throw rug is done? If I run out, will I be able to get more strips that coordinate with each other as well as these do?
As for Beryl, while my basil would appreciate a good downpour, it looks as if the basil and I will be waiting for at least one more day.
