No ragrets

To paraphrase old blue eyes, “Ragrets, I have had a few….”

This year is not going to be like a misspelled tattoo that leave one filled with either regrets or ragrets, but unlike 2015 and 2016, I am going to finish my state fair piece — although you might not be able to tell from the most recent photo which shows it nowhere near as close to done as I would hope:

How far I have gotten with the completed piecing

What you can’t see is that in my head it is finished, and that vision is what will carry me through the evening — and into the morning if need be — while my hands and my body complete the work that has already been done in my head, and my hope is that in the time remaining I am able to translate that vision into a completed crochet crazy quilt center panel with all of the embroidered bells and whistles one expects of a crazy quilt, even one worked in crochet.

In the meantime, here are some photos from yesterday that show the progress in better light:

  1. Leslie, you have some interesting things going on.
I love the way the piece in the cornet looks like a big top of a circus tent, then the beautiful fan in the opposite corner. ALL the colors! Wow.
    You’re going to make it.

  2. I can see it finished in my head too – it’s fabulous! I’m sure the judges will appreciate it 🙂
