Today was the only day this week I didn’t need to go on extended errands, and I had thought that I would be able to focus fully on my crochet, but the truth is, even when the stars align and give me the time I need, sometimes I get a little distracted.
Yesterday, using the chart I had made for my Day of the Dead yarn bomb design, I got a start on one of the panels. I was careful to keep track of my gauge because once all sixteen panels are completed, I need to be able to put them together, so I selected a panel to crochet and got to work.
When I had finished the sixth of twenty-four rows, I got out my ruler (courtesy of the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department) to see if I was hitting the gauge I wanted in terms of the row width:

And stitch height:

Delighted that I was hitting both goals, I continued on my merry way.
But my merry way was not terribly speedy, and today as I worked on the second of what will be sixteen panels, I made numerous mistakes that required substantial frogging, and while I usually try to be philosophical about it and tell myself that I’m getting to do twice as much crochet for the same cost of yarn, today I was more concerned about how I would meet my new recently ramped Day of the Dead crochet goals.
After I finished the second panel, I didn’t know if I should start a third or do something else to get myself back on track. Because some preliminary panic had begun to set in, I decided to get started on a third panel, and this time, things started to click, and while I made some mistakes, I caught them early and was able to move forward with less frogging:

I would have continued my work and finished the third panel, but my dog Clooney did not care about my crochet progress; what he cared about was his evening walk.
So I got his leash and we headed east for a bit, then, when the wind kicked up and it felt like it might start raining, we turned around, and shortly before we reached home, we were greeted by a double rainbow, and I got this perfectly imperfect photo of it:

In the ways that we measure progress, it would have been better if I had not made any mistakes while crocheting the panels, and it would have been nice if I had brought a better camera with me to more accurately capture the perfection of a double rainbow, but in order to the best one humanly can, means that one is human.
Keep it up! And that double rainbow pic is beautiful! πππΌπππ
Rainbow is gorgeous! And again u made my day with your story!
P.S. I got soooo irritated with the darn virus afghan that I frogged the whole thing and started an easy C2Cπ₯΄π€―π
