Today was my first full day home after my recent travels took me as far south as Huntsville, Alabama, and as far north and west as Edwardsville, Illinois.
I had a number of household chores and errands that needed my attention after having spent so much of the past week away from home, but once they were done, I picked up where I had left off with Square 56 from Jean Leinhauser’s 101 Crochet Squares.
Seven days had passed since I last worked on this square, and I had stopped work on it mid-way through the sixth and final round. I no longer recall what it was that prevented me from finishing it the day I started work on, but it is done now:

Buoyed by a sense of accomplishment at having finished Square 56 in one week’s time, I went back to the 101 Crochet Squares crochet-a-long group on Ravelry to see what new square had been posted in the seven days since I last checked. As luck would have it, it was another single color motif, Square 69:

Unlike Square 56, I was able to work very nearly uninterrupted, and not only did I finish crocheting Square 69 at what felt like crochet-warp speed, I had time to get a photo of the two squares just hanging out and enjoying the first day of summer:

I’m not yet decided how I will spend the second day of summer, but I am hoping that finishing up Square 56 and keeping up with the crochet-a-long (at least for this week) is a harbinger of what’s to come.
