Three days ago (on the day known as “Day 22”), I not only wove in myriad ends for my project for the 2010 North Carolina State Fair, I found a pattern for a crocheted dress called the Go-go Granny that I have been coveting since I first saw it.

Today, in addition to laying out and joining row 21, of necessity several errands interrupted my crochet life. Once I had achieved escape velocity from my piles of yarn and rows of crochet, I found myself inexorably drawn to a nearby Borders bookstore. I had only intended to see if the book Knitting It Old School (the book that features the pattern for the Go-go Granny Dress) was in stock, but once inside the store, I found not one, but two copies of the book on the shelves. I quickly learned that while the book is wonderful on many levels, the title is a bit of a misnomer.

First, although it is a cardinal rule that one should not judge a book by it’s cover, I do so anyway, and I love the cover of this book:

Now to the misnomer aspect of the title. Of the 43 patterns included in the book, I counted nine crochet patterns, most of which I want to make in some fashion.

Because of my looming deadline, I have had to focus my attention on completing the project at hand, and I have not had time to carefully examine all of the book’s offerings, but if you, like me, adore bright colors and playful patterns, you will definitely want to take a look at this tome and consider adding it to your own crochet library.

Meanwhile, I find that I must answer the siren call of the chibi beckoning me to weave in more ends.
