One of the first things I did this morning (after getting my son breakfast, making his lunch, and walking with him to the bus stop) was to continue work on the this piece for my 2012 North Carolina State Fair project:

What became clear to me as I continued work on this strip was that I did not have enough Red Heart Super Saver medium thyme to make a second piece just like it, so, despite my intention to not purchase any new yarn for this project, I decided that in the interest of color harmony, I would need to set aside that self-imposed rule and buy more medium thyme.

So after I dropped Clooney off for doggy day camp (and a much needed bath), I headed to the nearest Walmart in search of the needed yarn.

Not only did I find the color needed for the project, I also found this new color from Red Heart Yarns:

In life, grape fizz is a bit less red and a bit more blue than it appears in this photo, but the picture does accurately represent just how much fun this yarn is. While I wanted to buy every skein in the store, I exercised some control and bought just two.

Once I got home, I took advantage of Clooney’s absence to vacuum up as much of his hair as I could, and when I was done with that, I turned my attention to joining the remaining squares and triangles of my 2012 North Carolina State Fair project, and I almost finished:

With the piecing of the bulk of the project nearly completed, I put my state fair project away for the day, picked up Clooney from doggy day camp (he had a good day and was instrumental in “rehabilitating” another dog who had previously refused to play with the other dogs), and then continued my efforts to finish the green border piece.

And now, it is time to go to sleep, so I can get up tomorrow morning, and do it all over again.
