Eight (ish) more crochet squares on the way to one thousand

Once I finally decided that one thousand rehabbed crochet squares for Project Amigo was my current front burner crochet goal, I got back to work and selected these six squares for rehab:

Six granny squares to be rehabbed for the Project Amigo crochet blanket project
Six future five-inch crochet squares

They were chosen because I was sorting through assorted bits and pieces of crochet as I decided what to pack in a box, and each of them held some of promise.

Two were from the permutations cat runner, one was an extra for the strap of a tote from my practically perfect crochet bag series, one was just a random two-round granny square crocheted in pink, one was left over from a color exploration I did not go with for the sunshine and shadow blanket I ended up giving to my oldest son’s cat, Mr. Bigglesworth, and one-round granny square, the origins of which I no longer recall.

I started work on them yesterday and made some progress, but today my attention was once again diverted to storage.

I have around 120 squares at home, and I know that I have another 25-30 in storage. I am itching to get them packed up and sent off, so today, when I was out running another errand, I stopped by the storage unit to take a look, and while I did not find the squares I know are there, I did find these:

I had made them using 5.0 mm hook and this lightly textured crochet square pattern. For a reason I know longer recall, I had begun to join the squares, but today, I thought the better of it, and I took out the stitches I had made in an abandoned attempt to join them, wove in the ends of the blue square, and called them rehabbed:

By then I was ready to get back to the six other crochet squares that awaited me, and I almost finished them all, save for the one granny square that had once been a possible choice for a crochet purse strap:

Tomorrow is a new day, and I will be going back to the storage unit to see what I have that can be given a new purpose, and I will transform the pieces I find, one stitch at a time.
