Friday, well before sunrise, my husband, my youngest son, my dog, and I all got up. Three of us were going to the 2019 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and one of us needed a walk before the three of us who were fiesta bound left the house.

The morning was cold. At 4:30 when we walked the dog, the temperature was a balmy 35º F. By the time we had made our way to the mall where we caught a bus out to the Balloon Fiesta, the temperature had begun to drop.

Despite the very chilly temperatures, it was hard to not feel the exhilaration of what was ahead of us, and by 7:30 the sun and a number of the balloons had risen:

Eventually, we made our way back to the buses that would take us back to our car that would take us back home, which, when I arrived, left me to wonder, “now what?”

It turned out that after experiencing the balloon fiesta, I had two “now whats” clamoring for my attention.

The pieces I had designed were in the bottom of my purse along with a notebook that held detailed notes on how to make the pieces I had worked on, and while I did not get any more work done on the pieces, I did, at least, get the notes transcribed.

All of which brought be back to the other “now what?” project.

Before I got the idea to design and crochet a yarn bomb for the 2019 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, I had been hard at work on a second Day of the Dead yarn bomb. There had been just two panels left to crochet when I set it aside, so I resumed my work and almost (but not quite) finished them both:

Even though one of them was not quite completed, the addition of the two pieces really brought the overall piece to life:

There are still stitches to be made, ends to be tied, and seams to be joined, and I will continue forward, one stitch at a time.
