The little old lady from Pasadena

And everybody’s saying that there’s nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She’s a terror of Colorado Boulevard — Jan & Dean

No doubt she was on her way to a sale at the Michaels on Colorado Boulevard:

Which, as it happened was my first stop of the day after I had eaten breakfast and packed up my things in preparation for “what’s next.”

Colorado Boulevard is a part of the Historic Route 66, and while it doesn’t go through Colorado at all, it does go through Albuquerque, New Mexico, where it is known as “Central Avenue,” and much as I have had adventures on Route 66 in New Mexico, I decided to make sure that I got a bit of an adventure on Route 66 in Pasadena.

I started by actually going to the Michaels Craft Store and getting this photo of one of the signs:

My photo doesn’t really do it justice, but it is better than no photo, and I had a little more success when I went in to check out the yarn aisles:

As is evident from the photos, it is very well stocked and very tidy.

From there, were were off to explore other Los Angeles County freeways with a busy day of driving, but even with all that, I did finally finish the written pattern for what I am now calling, the go-granny-go boho granny square:

in honor of the woman who inspired both Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys to memorialize her in song.
