I tried to be good today and not get distracted by outside stimuli, but something one of my friends had posted at Facebook last night would not let me go, so after I had made two more five- round granny squares for the flamingo-inspired practically perfect bag-to-be:

and woven in almost all of the ends of the granny squares that will form the body of the bag got the fourth practically perfect granny square bag-to-be:

I took hook to yarn and started on something new.
This all came about because of what my friend no doubt believed was an innocuous status update at Facebook.
My friend, like a number of people, is a shark movie aficionado, and she devotes a portion of each July is to watching and rewatching all of the important shark movies, and this July was no exception, so when she posted the following:
Okay, I’m watching Lavalantula, crocheting flowers, drinking coffee and eating a Cadbury egg.
Does it get any better than this?????
I thought, it probably doesn’t, but still, I tried to think of what could possibly make it better, and the first thing that popped into my head was a crochet shark flower.
With the idea firmly planted in my brain, I fell asleep with visions of crochet shark flowers dancing in my head, and today when I finally found a moment to work on it, this is what I came up with:

I am sure that there are ways that I could further perfect this flower, but I am going to do my best to resist that temptation and finish writing the pattern so that anyone in need of a crochet shark flower will have one when they need it.
I need one to wear the next time I watch Jaws.
FABULOUS!!!!
I can just see the next bag I crochet. . .
