This morning I awoke to what I hope is the last vestige of winter asserting itself with cold temperatures made colder by what could best be described as a howling breeze, and I was determined to finish just one more thing.

After Clooney (my dog) and I had walked my son to the bus stop, we returned to the house and spent a leisurely early morning waiting for it to warm up enough to go out for a proper walk.

Then, once I had had my breakfast and Clooney had had his walk, I set about making more of the cookies needed to solve the cookie-dough-ku.

Here is how far I had gotten yesterday:

My progress with the cookies for solving the puzzle was so modest in large part because of my most recent “big idea” with regard to this project.

Two days ago it occurred to me that I would need to find a container of some sort to house the 51 loose cookies needed to solve the cookie-dough-ku.

I had tried an assortment of containers that I have saved because they are “too good” to throw out, but none of them met the requirements of being both the perfect size and in keeping the the ambiance of the project as a whole.

Faced with the dilemma of where to store the cookies, I got a start on this crochet cookie stash bag:

which, while I love the shape and the texture, seemed to lack a certain “je ne sais crois.”

After giving it some thought, I realized that the “crois” it lacked was more cookies.

Armed with my hooks and the basket of yarn I had carted to my mother’s medical appointment yesterday, I got to work and made these 17 cookies, and got a start on the 18th:

I know that eventually this project will come to an end. All the cookies will be crocheted, ends will be woven in, the border will be completed, the piece will be blocked, and the bag to house the loose cookies will be finished and filled, but until then, I am listening to the little voice urging me to add “just one more thing.”
