Nineteen days and counting

Today was the last day to register to enter the 2012 North Carolina State Fair competitions.

Fortunately for me, I got that done last night.

I probably entered more categories than I have completed projects for, but I would rather not have a completed project to turn in than not be able to turn in a completed project because I didn’t register.

As for what I am counting besides days, it would have to be the as-yet-to-be-completed multi-color motifs that currently adorn my crochet/breakfast bar.

Yesterday, I managed to finish two of them with ends woven in and everything:

textured crochet squares, crochetbug, textured crochet afghan, textured crochet quilt, textured crochet blanket, textured crochet throw, textured crochet rectangles
Two new multicolor crochet motifs with ends woven in and ready to be washed

With those two motifs made, photographed, and washed, I worked on three additional motifs which, if you don’t count weaving in ends, I also finished:

textured crochet squares, crochetbug, textured crochet afghan, textured crochet quilt, textured crochet blanket, textured crochet throw, textured crochet rectangles
Three nearly completed multicolor motifs

Next, I assembled all of the remaining rectangles I had made that were littering my crochet/breakfast bar and began joining them to several of the remaining center squares which were also on my crochet/breakfast bar:

textured crochet squares, crochetbug, textured crochet afghan, textured crochet quilt, textured crochet blanket, textured crochet throw, textured crochet rectangles
Six multicolor motifs in waiting

Eventually, I ran out of both daylight and rectangles.

The last thing I got done was the border piece I had begun work on at Tuesday’s Band Club meeting. At the time, I had not been overly thrilled to have yet another back-to-school meeting to attend, but it ended up being a good opportunity to get a start on a piece that I find challenging to work on because it does not have a lot of interesting color changes which is something I enjoy about crochet:

textured crochet squares, crochetbug, textured crochet afghan, textured crochet quilt, textured crochet blanket, textured crochet throw, textured crochet rectangles
A crochet border piece made of Red Heart Super Saver lavender and medium purple

The next few days promise sunshine, and in as much as I have several non-negotiable, non-crochet tasks I must attend to for several of the days between now and the deadline for the state fair, I need to put that sunshine to its highest and best use, which I plan to do yet again, tomorrow.
