With Halloween just thirteen days away, and the Day of the Dead right after that, there is a lot of crochet yet to be done, not the least of which are two crochet skeletons I would like to have in the mail by Friday.
What this means is I have a lot of work to do and not as much time as I would like to do it. At times like this, I do the thing that makes the most sense: bury myself in crochet and pretend that the rest of the world doesn’t exist. Which was exactly what I had planned last night, but then, sleep overtook me, and before the clock struck nine-thirty, I was out for the night.
When I woke up this morning, I was well aware of the work that needed to be done, so after I had dispensed with a few of my many chores, I got back to Manic Yarn’s ingenious Mr. Bone Headz amigurumi.
I decided that instead of working on one and then the other, I would work on them side-by-side so that any lesson learned on the first skeleton could be immediately applied to the second one.
This turned out to be a good decision because while the first right leg took me quite a while, the second right leg took me, at most, one-third of the time, and while it wasn’t much, by the time the sun was ready to set I had both right legs crocheted, and was ready to move onto crocheting the right foot:
Pleased with the progress, I took a moment to pull out the yarn I had been using to mark some increases, and I put a crochet pumpkin head on one and a crochet mummy head on the other:
They did not disappoint.
Now I am looking forward to crocheting two right feet and then getting started on the left leg, so that maybe by Tuesday they will be able to stand on their own, side by side.
