Crochet inspirations and influences

The past couple of days I had to set working on my crochet aside to sort through the bins of crochet that I have that need sorting through. Coming face to face with my work that has been packed away, has reminded me that sometimes inadvertent themes show up and that it isn’t always possible to predict what the source of one’s crochet inspirations will be.

One of the most noticeable influences on my crochet has been games.

One of the first was this trio of crochet blankets inspired by the mobile game DOTS. Using the layout and proportions of the game itself, I created three different sizes of blanket: preemie, baby, and tween:

Another was inspired by one of my all time favorite early video games, which resulted in this Tetris inspired afghan:

To my delight, two photos from the many I took while documenting the project of were included in this video made to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the game:

And then, there was a six sudoku afghan I made with sudoku puzzles that could be solved if only I had gotten around to crocheting the pieces to do so:

Maybe now that I have rediscovered the six sudoku afghan I will finally finish the pieces, or maybe, I will be inspired to create something new and different. Either way, I will have to move forward, one stitch at a time.
