Modest progress

I am currently facing some external deadlines that I have no choice but to meet. As a result of these deadlines, my crochet progress has been modest — but modest progress is progress, and after a couple of days on the road, I took some time yesterday to get out a bent-tipped yarn needle and let it do it’s magic.

I was tired after my travels, so I went for the crochet equivalent of low hanging fruit, sometimes choosing a piece because it was closest to me, and other times choosing a piece because I liked the color.

I don’t remember how much time I was able to devote to making the magic happen, as it wasn’t a lot, but I did move forward. To give myself some much needed motivation I laid out all of the pieces and took this photo before I resumed my efforts:

With the pieces already laid out and “photo ready,” I decided to stay put and work where I was.

I started with pieces that had just two ends to be woven in. From there I progressed to things that were detached from other things and had more than two ends to be woven in. After that, I resumed my efforts to uncouple some of the pieces that were joined into strips, at which point I would have a piece with just two ends to weave in, so I would.

After I finished with the ends of one piece, I would trim the ends and put the piece back from where I had gotten it, and this small bit of weaving in of ends was a welcome break from the packing that must be done.

But because of the packing that must be done, I didn’t have a lot of time to spend on my rehab efforts, but as had happened the day before, I did make modest progress:

I am looking forward to the long expanse of summer days that await me, and the opportunity those days will provide for me to work both uninterrupted and unimpeded, but in the meanwhile I will move forward, one stitch at at time.
