Yesterday, early in the morning, I got up and worked on one last round of the Hello Kitty inspired granny square blanket. I had doubts about the color I was using until I was crocheting along the third side of the last round, but one thing I had no doubts about was that with the blanket nearly finished, I needed to work on one last amigurumi to go with the blanket.
So I wove in the last few ends, carefully trimmed them, and prepared a tub of water in which do the the final blocking of the piece.
Then, using every spare towel I had, I wrung out the excess water and set the blanket out in the desert sun to dry.
Here is how it looked today:

With the granny square blanket crocheted and blocked, I was ready to move onto the last thing: crocheting one more Hello Kitty amigurumi.
But the remaining question was this: which one?
After sorting through all of the options, I decided to focus on the somewhat sassy, My Melody:

I wanted to continue in same vein as my other out-of-the-box colors for the amigurumi, finally settling on a light orchid for the body, feet, arms, and head:

Here is how the amigurumi in progress looked next to the one in the book:

There are a few things left to do: a face to embroider, amigurumi parts to stuff, pieces to be joined, but I will continue moving forward one stitch at a time.
Love the granny square blanket. You have such a good eye for combining those bold colors!!
Granny turned out fabulous!! 🙂
