Now that we are officially one week into winter, I find that the weather is colder than I generally like, but the light on a sunny day (such as today) is perfect and the days themselves are, bit by bit, growing longer.
With the trees are stripped bare of their leaves, the light streams into my living room unimpeded, and with the new year looming, my mind begins to fix on thoughts of what that new year will bring.
One thing I would like the new year to bring is a more well-ordered home, and to that end today I got started on a project to make 12 more chair leg socks for the chairs at the breakfast bar in my kitchen. Here is one of the chair legs in question:

To that end, I spent a good portion of my crochet day devising a new chair leg sock to fit the above leg and it’s eleven companions:

Unlike the last batch of chair leg socks I made for the chairs at my kitchen table, I took multiple photographs and copious notes so that I could write a “how to make your own chair leg socks” tutorial for the people out there who would like to make some for the chairs in their homes.
Because the specific requirements for a chair leg sock vary from one chair design to the next, in addition to a pattern based on what I specifically did (have done), I will also include some guidelines that I hope crocheters everywhere will find helpful in making chair leg socks for the chairs in their homes.
In addition to the chair leg socks, I also pieced together one of the three last remaining 3×3 squares needed for the six sudoku afghan I am working on:

So, until Sunday evening, here is the week in review:
