Granny square bag fever

My front burner project is supposed to be a granny square inspired lampshade rehab, but somewhere along the way, I got distracted.

My regular readers may (or may not) have noticed that I got a new pair of shoes which made an appearance in a blog post in late March:

The shoes had caught my eye while shopping for my youngest son. Unable to resist the siren call of the purple “Ditsy Floral” VansĀ®, I bought them:

Then, yesterday, I looked at the shoes and decided that the colors would be perfect for another granny square bag. With that in mind, I sorted through my yarns, selected 10 that I thought would work, got out my 4.0 mm hook, and started crocheting.

Here is how far I got before sundown yesterday:

One thing about choosing a set number of colors is that the work is much quicker as there are not so many decisions to make, but even with this limited palette, I am enjoying this crochet adventure and can hardly wait to see where it takes me.
