When I began crocheting the stuffed toys from the Hello Kitty Crochet book, I had it in my head to make six amigurumi to go with a Hello Kitty inspired granny square blanket, and yesterday, in the late afternoon, I finished the last one:

Based on the My Melody character in Mei Li Lee’s genius collection of crochet patterns, I changed up the colors a bit, and then got this photo of her with her five friends:

When I started on this particular leg of my crochet journey, I hadn’t expected to enjoy making the little stuffed animals as much as I did. I sometimes find making amigurumi a bit on the fussy side, but Mei Li Lee’s designs were eminently doable and the results were pretty much always spectacular no matter what small errors I made.
There were a few places where I had to do some figuring to understand exactly what I was supposed to do, but most of the process was very smooth sailing, and all of it was fun.
But the whole point of the six amigurumi was to have some companions to go with a great granny square blanket that was inspired by a vintage Hello Kitty Book I picked up my local free library:

And it was from this library that I found a book that inspired me to make this great granny square blanket:

and in turn, the resulting blanket inspired me to find patterns for and make a few crochet friends to go with it:

Now that it is summer, there are many crochet adventures to be had, and I will keep my hook and yarn nearby so I am ready.
Really cute and colorful!
