The piecing continues

I had hoped to get the slightly smaller practically perfect granny square bag done in time for today’s blog post, but life (and some spectacular weather that demanded to be enjoyed) intervened, and while I made substantive progress on the bag to be, I did not get it finished and the piecing continues.

I started my push to complete it by weaving in the ends that joining the body of the bag created:

Using the above piece as a template, I made a pattern for the lining from a paper grocery bag, cut out two pieces for the double lining from fabric I bought last week, sewed seams where needed, and by early afternoon, I had the lining ready to insert into the body of the bag:

I then inserted the lining into the bag to check the fit, and got this photo of the bag-to-be with some of the two-round granny squares that will form the edging/strap of the finished project:

Each of these bags is it’s own adventure, I and I have been surprised at how each has a distinct personality. I know that I want to make at least two more of these practically perfect bags, and I am looking forward to seeing what they reveal.
